JUDr. Vladimír Jurka (*1948) studied in the years 1967–1972 at the Comenius Law Faculty. In 1975 a doctorate was conferred on him by the Masaryk Law Faculty.

In 1973–1975 he worked as a judicial trainee at the Regional Court in Brno and the District Court in Kroměříž. In 1975–1989 he was the Chairman of the District Court panel for criminal matters, as well as of the panel for traffic matters and for adolescent matters. In 1989 he was appointed Deputy Chief Justice of the District Court in Kroměříž.

President Václav Havel appointed him a Justice of the Constitutional Court on 15 July 1993.

After his term as a judge of the Constitutional Court ended on 15 July 2003, he served as a judge of the Criminal Division at the Supreme Court of the Czech Republic until the end of 2018.
